This Month in Collecting - November 2011

November was solid collection month for me.  Picked up quite a few good titles and continued to fill out some existing series.   I decided to go all out and post up some individual game shots so enjoy.  All the games are listed in order of acquisition and as always, you can click the image to view a larger image.

First up is Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.  As was many PS3 owners, I have been looking forward to this game pretty much ever since I finished Uncharted 2.  Many people complained about the aiming issue but it never really bothered me.   The game itself was a great ride, a formulaic, but it had some great set pieces.  Easily one of the top games I played this year.
Someone once said that Brute Force was a pretty good game.   So, because of that and because it's an Xbox Exclusive, I decided to give it a home.
Omikron: The Nomad Soul marks the final game in my Quantic Dream collection.  Of course considering that there are only three games in the entire Quantic Dream library, that's really not that much of an accomplishment.  But I am happy to add this to my collection, I mean it's got David Bowie in it.  David Bowie!
I've picked up so many of the Dynasty Warriors titles that I kinda have to get them all now.  So I found a nice copy of Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires and added it into the fold.  Now I need to get that DS game that I missed.
So this month I got a crazy itch and decided to get all of the Star War Battlefront games.  Honestly, I didn't expect to be able to pick them all up at once but it just so happened that I found them all, complete and in good shape.  I picked up both I & II in the same day, but the PSP games I found later.
 Star Wars Battlefront II
When Telltale Games announced that they were putting out retail releases of some of their games, I couldn't not get it.   I'm not a huge fan digital only games as I still feel DRM has a whole bunch of issues yet to work out.  As a result, I felt obligated to support the retail copy of Back to the Future: The Game so that they will continue to release their games on disc.
I really don't know that much about the Ghosts n Goblins series, other than I know that it seems to have a pretty solid following.   I picked up Maximo: Ghosts to Glory and it's brother as they were cheap and were in my mind of late cause VGHunter was playing them.   So now they are mine.  I've toyed with getting them before but for whatever reason I always skipped them.
I don't normally let incomplete games into my collection but Maximo: Army of Zin was cheap and I was getting Ghosts to Glory so I let my standards drop.  For those of you who really know their cases, you'll notice that the case isn't a real case as the color is a bit off, however, the cover art is the original cover art so if I'm ever able to find a manual, I'll be happy.
Another series I'm working on, Romance of the Three Kingdoms.   This was the first complete copy of Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire, I've ever seen in the wild, so I picked it up.
I remember reading all the preview stuff for Star Wars: Lethal Alliance but for some reason I totally missed it when it released.  I had forgotten all about it until I saw a copy of the DS version and then realized I needed to get a PSP copy.
Play n Trade had a B2G1 sale on a bunch of older games so I picked up Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3...
...and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow...
...and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown meaning that I'm only missing one more Tom Clancy title (Rainbow Six: Critical Hour) on the Xbox (I think)
Added a fairly nice copy of Armored Core: Nine Breaker to the collection in my Armored Core collection quest.

I've been eyeing this copy of Dynasty Warriors for several months at a local Play n Trade but for whatever reason, I kept passing it over.  I guess I knew I would always get it and now I have.
Chalk up another Battlefront title with Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron
Ghost Recon is one of my favorite series, so I figured why not get it to play on the go.  So I picked up Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Predator.
Driver: San Francisco was on sale at GameStop, so I got it.  Now I just need to find a good copy of Parallel Lines
Ok, Assassin's Creed is hands down my favorite new IP for this gen.   So picking up the Signature Editions of Assassin's Creed Revelations was never not gonna happen.  And yes I got it on both platforms.  As a side note, doesn't that green just ruin the cover art?
Found Red Faction II on the cheap at GameStop.
Picking up Armored Core on the PS1 means that I now have all the "core" (yes I went there) games (1, 2, 3, & 4).  Picking up all the side titles is gonna take a while.
I really don't know much about Ape Escape but I see it everywhere.  Read some reviews and it seems like it could be fun.
This is easily the prize pickup of the month.  A complete copy of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete.   Not only was it in really good shape and complete, but it was one of the best prices I've seen for a complete setup.  Yes, I was very happy.
Picked up Legacy of Kain: Defiance.  Just rounding out the collection with another Kain title.
Orginally I was trying to find Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast but I came across Rayman 2 Revolution on the PS2 and well, I figured that would work.
And Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron represents the last acquisition for the Battlefront series.
I was going to wait on this but the Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword has too many good reviews to pass up.
I also picked up a few Collector's Edition guides, Uncharted 3
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
And last, I picked up the DaVinci Flyer from Assassin's Creed.   I set it on the PS2 to give you a sense of scale.

And that is it for the month!

  3. While I also own the original Ape Escape and have not played it yet. I did play through Ape Escape 3 a few years ago. It was a varied and fun light-hearted game. I suspect the original is as well.
